Biography

Yaoqing (Lamar) Yang received the B.S. degree from the Northern Jiaotong University, Beijing, China, in 1983, and the M.S. degree from the Beijing Broadcast Institute, Beijing, in 1986, both in electrical engineering. He received the Ph.D. degree in the area of wireless communications and networks from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2006.

He served as a lecturer and engineer at the Beijing Broadcast Institute between December 1986 and July 1997. In August 1997, he was a visiting scholar with the University of Texas at Austin, where he worked on a semiconductor project sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF).From 2000 to 2002, he worked on the Advanced Research Program (ARP) project for smart antenna measurements. Later, he developed a 4 X 8 wideband MIMO channel sounder that incorporated spread spectrum technology. In August 2006, he joined the faculty of the Department of Computer and Electronics Engineering, University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Omaha Campus). His current research interests lie in wireless communication systems with emphasis on MIMO channel characterization, array signal processing, and RF engineering.
